The Agile2009 conference was a huge success!  We would like to give many thanks to Johanna Rothman for leading this event as the Conference Chair.  Jim Newkirk will now take on the reins of the Agile2010 Conference to be held in Nashville August 9-13, 2010.

The conference steering committee is charged with the task of finding the conference chair for the Agile2011 Conference to be held in Salt Lake City August 7-13, 2011.  This conference will be a great opportunity to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Agile Manifesto.  The Conference Chair is responsible for the overall coordination and leadership of the event. They will work with the event planning team in coordinating the logistics, with the organizational team to handle marketing and sponsorships, and the Program Committee to set the overall program.   The chair has responsibility for managing the event to an approved budget.  We are looking for individuals that have a passion, ability, and capacity to put effort into making the Agile2011 conference successful.  We expect candidates for this role to have had significant involvement with prior Agile200X conferences and/or to have experience with leading and coordinating similar large scale events.  

The Agile2011 Conference Chair will be a member of the Agile Alliance Board of Directors during 2011 and will also be a member of the Conference Steering Committee during 2010 as the future chair, and through 2012 as the past chair.  We are looking to get the 2011 chair identified early so that they will have the ability to observe and learn from the 2010 conference planning. This position is a substantial commitment.  Prior conference chairs have estimated that the workload averages about 10 hours/week during the year, with peak times requiring up to 20 hours/week.  There will be travel required to meet at the venue with the event planners and the program committee, and 3 face-to-face meetings of the Board of Directors.  The position is compensated and the compensation for 2009 was $30,000.
